ESP light

Featured Replies

ESP light has come on this afternoon and will not go out. Have tried pressing the button, nothing changes. Read a few threads on here about ABS failure bringing the light on, but is that a definite diagnosis or could it be something else?Car still under warranty, so not overly concerned, but interested nevertheless... If it is an ABS failure, will the traction control still work?

I think it's going to be the ECU controller, so if the car has a warranty still get it up the dealer ASAP due to the price to fix it being around £1500.

There are a few things that could bring the light one, but without a fault code scan I can't reliably say if the ABS or traction control will work and I would assume they will not.

If it's the ESP that has failed, then I'd be inclined to think traction control won't work, because ESP replaces the ASR system on other cars that does the traction control.

thanks for that. It's only just come back from the dealers after investigating a fuelling fault - turned out to be contaminated diesel. Guess I'll be booking it back in tomorrow then!

Cheers for the reply.
