xmas present help.........please.

Featured Replies

Mrs S, (She that must be obeyed!), has agreed to part company with a fistful of dollars and purchase a radar detector for my xmas pressie. :):)

I have done some research, read many reviews and even searched this site (before posting!). However, I am none the wiser as to which to opt for. I know many of you use various models and was just wondering what is the concencus for the best one.

I have in mind a snooper s4 neo (the one offered here > http://www.urcar2.co.uk/page1179.html , seems a good deal)

can anyone offer any guidance. I basically want something that will find everything, show me accident blackspots, (and an auto pilot would be nice  )

Thanks in advance.

Ho Ho Ho young tony, come here and sit on my lap and I'll see what I can do for you!

I have a snooper on my sleigh, but find it tends to give me a lot of spurious information from the likes of Woolies as I'm approaching thier stores to load up. :D

I'm sure some of the others in here will give you advice on more up to date equipment that is now available though.

Now you be a good lad, and I hope to bring you everything you desire in just 57 day's time!

all above to be read in a stupidly deep voice please!!

I think there is some question as to whether radar detctors may be made illegal, so it might be worth digging some more or asking around.

Personally I have a Road Angel, which is GPS based. Yes it has the laser detector module...but they would probably have me before I could register that I have been hit and then do anything about it.

It is very nice though knowing where the speed cameras are :D , as well as accident black spots etc.

Colin  , you are normal arent you??

Do I need to have you "rearranged"?

According to the gospel of 'everybody that knows me,' Andy..NO...but I really don't care anymore! :P

By the way, mine's a Snooper SD815i. Rarely use it now because it's a pain in the bum, and I don't speed anyway ;)

I have an Snooper S4 Neo, it's superb. Very compact, plug & play unit (which is what I like!) and has NEVER failed me in the year I've owned it. SWMBO has one, my Dad has one and 2 of my friends have them... best recommendation I can give it really.

I've got an Origin b2, fantastic bit of kit. They guy that fitted it highly recommends the Mirco Road Pilot. He'd do a Micro Road Pilot fitted for about

The other route worth considering is something like a pda + tomtom + gps + POI software.

I've just installed the latest checkpoints and it's great because now there's a category for mobile speed cams too, so when people notice a common spot for that "security camera van", it gets added to the database which you can update as often as you like (and the Checkpoint one is FoC)

edit: now that I think of it, the above hardware / software selection was swmbo's xmas present from last year :D

edit2: as an example, the dell x30 with bluetooth here doesn't seem like a bad deal for 400 notes

I've just upgraded my Morpheous Geodesy + Radar for the Origin b2 Solo which has GPS, for cameras all types, schools, congestion cameras, a laser detector and also additional pick ups for a radar detector available soon at

C.J. Can you turn off X band radar bit to stop the automatic doors setting off the detector ?

Ivan, has 'city' mode which is supposed to stop such info from being picked up, but generally speaking when I use it now..ie when I'm out of town so to speak.. I just unplug it from the cig. lighter to stop the constant bleeping. Find it a real pain.

AH that was it city mode, I invested in Tom Tom with the free speed camera overlay it picks them all up apart from hand held radar guns.
