yeti lust

Featured Replies

I've cracked it!...that is to say I finally understand my yeti-lust and why I get warm glow when considering taking ownership of mine. Apart from the obvious need for some therapy for developing emotional attachments to machinery I can now bare all .....and proclaim my yet-lust is all down to a long romance with a Subaru.

The scooby turbo I had was a steroid addicted wolf in lambs clothing. Very plain and unnoticeable in any carpark and when mobile 0-60 in 6 seconds in standard form is still to this day in the league of supercars. The fleeting look of utter shock on porche/beemer/sports drivers as me scooby not so much sailed by, dropped 'em like they was standing is probably the term i'm looking for at traffic light grand prix's is still memorable ....so for that matter is the sub 16mpg (winces!) when stomping on the gogo pedal. I remember this wagon so affectionately because it was (nearly always) a pleasure to drive, utterly reliable and more practical than anything else on the market at the time even if it was pricey to keep on the road by comparison with some of todays beasties

so out of the the misty mountains leaps the snow-monster, with all its much lauded attributes...ok it ain't a 6 second beasty but it's not shabby at 8.5 and 46mpg with 20k mile servicing is not to be sniffed at

Does anyone see the similarity in the subaru as a yeti design muse?

In my not so humble opinion Skoda really have designed in all the pluses without any of the minuses of other marques (on the assumption that some of the teething troubles are purely so).

as for me I'm gearing up to plague my skoda-man on delivery dates to see if we can get ma wee beasty in uk el-pronto! :0)

Spot-on.

If Subaru still made an original shape Forester, but with an engine returning sensible mpg and a price tag in the low teens then I would definitely have had second thoughts before ordering a Yeti - no coincidence that the Yeti will be in Forester, sorry Amazonian green.

Any news when your lust will be satisfied yet, scunjee? Did you get a confirmed build date?

I've been after a yeti since I first saw the pictures of the concept vehicle and heard rumours that it might go into production. I even went on a day trip to the Geneva Motor Show for the Yeti launch!

Hopefully there should be enough snow monsters around in 2010 to have the inaugural Briskoda Snow Monster meet - preferably somewhere hilly, not the fens.

Perhaps call it the Yeti UK Furball Rally....

Good news for you then, scunjee. The race is still on....!!

PS Allams had 42 cars delivered last week - I've told them to keep a space free for mine!

My wife followed a White Yeti on her way home last night (Kingswells area outside Aberdeen) - maybe this was driven by a Forum member?

Anyway this has just increased her impatience in awaiting the delivery of ours!!! - sometime in January. Hopefully before the snow sets in (early warning this week).

Aberdoom is about to have a yeti invasion by the looks of things

Aye, Inverness-shire has just one Monster, whereas Aberdoomshire is about to get several Snow Monsters. More chance of seeing the latter than the former on the A96 I suppose! Graham

the beers on me Aero....IF yer win ;)

Sorry to hear of further delays Scunjee.

I got phone message last night from dealer to tell me my SE 110d 2wd is arriving on transporter today at dealer.I was pleasantly surprised as it was still in Germany last Monday.

Lets hope PDI and paperwork can be done quickly.

Mine arrived at the Dealer Monday and will be ready on Friday - more than the usual prep work, as the Danish tax system forces some of the options to be dealer installed - such as Towing hook, Navigation and the Parrot to make the phone really work.

2.0 125kW, Candy whte Ambition with Columbus, zeneo, hook and 4 extra speakers.

I am not so sure that they look so similar, the Subaru is more angular and is a bigger car, I think. The Yeti might get closer performance with a Re Map. What sort of performance might that reveal? 0-60 in say 8 seconds perhaps or even sub 8 sec perhaps 7.5 or close to it maybe, maybe-not. The fuel economy should remain the same or even better slightly as well.
