Second hand Maxidot fitting

Featured Replies

Evening Octavia II owners :DJust a quick note to let you know that I can now fit second hand Maxidot instrument clusters as well as fitting brand new ones. This service includes everything required, including correcting the mileage and retrieving the required Secret Key Codes (SKCs). The only thing I can't do for you is retrieve your radio code, so you'd need to provide that. Please note - this does not apply to facelift or LE vehicles but covers all pre-facelift Octavia IIs.Thanks all

ben you are making my life hard. Stop it. I have sever spending issues as it is.

Great news Ben - just got to source some clocks now ! :)

I forgot to mention that this includes Mk5 Golf midline and highline cluster retrofits as well as Leon Mk2 cluster retrofits. I can also fit midline/half-height clusters to cars that don't currently have a trip computer and add that as well, so if you have an Octavia Classic or Leon Reference then you can have a full or half height cluster fitted to it!

Ben did you get my PM?

  • Author

Yes mate I did but not had 5 mins to reply, will do today.

Cheers

Hi, Ben thanks for fitting the cruise control on my Octavia, it was great coming back from your place driving though the road works along the M1 and just switch on the cruise control and let it cruise at 49mph through the average speed cameras plus giving my right leg rest.

If anybody is interested in having a cruise control fitted I would highly recommend Ben (Shark Performance) in Mansfield.

Thanks very much Michael :)

Have you a source of second hand Maxidot units or is that something you have to be lucky with finding? Where would I get my hands on a radio code as I didn't get this when I bought the car?

  • Author

I don't have a source of them at the moment no, but I do get offered the occasional one here and there.

Radio code is a dealer job, they should give it to you FOC if you ask them for it. I believe it states that in the handbook if you need clarification.

Please form an orderly queue - preferrably behind me ! :)

I'm in Ireland anyway, so it would be a bit of a trip :)... Next money to go on it will be a timing belt service, so I won't worry about Maxidot just yet...

I have hopped on a plane for less ;)

Don't suppose Rainworth's have got an odd maxidot floating around not doing anything have they Ben ? :)

I don't believe so mate, so no cigar there.

hmmm interesting. As well as my Octy I have recently entered the world of VW capers and there is a thread running on one of the forums looking to retrofit maxidot or even just the basic driver info computer to VW T4 transporters. Everyone has said it can't happen. Could you manage to fit it to a VW van do ya reckon?

  • Author

I've never looked at a T4 for that kind of thing, but if someone's prepared to lend me a T4 for a while, and has a cluster or is willing to buy one, I'm always happy to take a project on. I'd love to do something like that.

There is no such thing as "can't be done" - DIS on the Audi A4, can't be done. Cruise and trip computer on a Leon Reference model including the addition of a dash cluster with the required display in it, can't be done. Maxidot in an Octavia, can't be done... they've all been done :)

You already have DIS - you just have it with a red screen rather than colour, at the moment.

Stupid question of the day coming up.......... Do the keys need reprogramming and if so is this possible. I had a new instrument cluster fitted under warranty due to the original cracking. When i had this done I had to take both sets of keys as they needed reprogramming to the new cluster. I was told that they would be done by the Skoda factory (online somehow).

Hi Ben, is there any chance you could tell me the part no that i require for the steering wheel module?

Not a stupid question at all :) Yes your keys do need to be recoded and while Skoda have to do them with an online connection, I can do them using your Secret Key Code (SKC) which I will retrieve from your car.

So does that mean we can buy cheap keys off ebay and get them coded to our cars without getting fleeced by the maindealer.
