Start Up Fan Noise

Featured Replies

Ever since i've had my vRS the secondary air pump has come on 9 times out of 10 starts when the car is cold, I am led to believe this is normal behaviour. I recently had a temp sensor failiure ...... 16502 - Engine Coolant Temp. Sensor (G62): Signal too High P0118 - 002 - .... which caused the fan noise at start up to go away. Anyway, i've replaced the sensor this weekend and after a couple of drives no more fault code, the start up fan noise isn't happening now though. The temp sender that I replaced was one of the old black ones, this has been replaced by the green part instead. Think there is anything to be worried about?

How did you know the sensors were faulty, did it through up the engine management light?

Yes it brought the engine management light up, two codes were found one for cleaning the throttle body which i'm yet to do (although this has been fine since) and the other as described at the top of the thread.

It was diagnosed with VAGCOM edit - i actually took a log of temps on the way to work this morning... http://briskoda.development.scalr.net/forums/showthread.php?p=1895955#post1895955
