VRS Front Bumper/Spoiler grounds - any recommendations?

Featured Replies

There is a change in gradient near my work where my VRS Estate front bumper/spoiler grounds out with a horrible noise. My car is standard as far as I can see - it's certainly not lowered - and I have to go this way, so avoiding it isn't an option (in any case, it grounds in multi-storeys & other places). Either I can put up with this and accept my bumper/spoiler is always going to look damaged or I can change it for an aftermarket one such as: http://www.carstyleplus.co.uk/Skoda_Octavia/octavia_radikal_bumper.jpg but I don't know if I'll just be spending money and be left with the same problem. Has anyone changed their VRS bumper? Anyone help? Ian. ps apologies for formatting, it's gone to pot since the reboot pps search not working today either, boo hoo pps just found out the Estate VRS is 4mm lower than the saloon VRS (19mm vs 15mm off standard) so that won't help

Taking it really slow when you hit the gradient change always helps loads, as it prevents the squidgy standard suspension from compressing. First time I went into Ikea I munched my bumper, but taking the ramp dead slow stops any scrapes.

Other than putting a normal bumper on, I'd say just try going super slow.

Don't know what you're on about, never had a problem:

if you put that bumper on your car you will get a public hanging simple as that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did think about putting titanium bolts in to protect the bumper, cause a few sparks and teach the tarmac a lesson, but the risk of cracking the bumper seems too great.

You may have already tried this, but if not, try taking the change in gradient at an angle. I have a similar problem going to work where I cross a dropper kerb on to a ramp. Crossing it perpendicularly ends in scraping, whereas coming at an angle (left wheel crosses first) means the lowest part of the bumper gets lifted enough to make it over without scraping. Same thing works for me over multi-storey car park ramps. My bumper looks okay but mainly because it is black. There are still plenty of scrapes.

Not surprising considering your driveway and just think how much faster it'll go up it now that you're STS'd!

:D True. I wish it's stop pishing down so I could try it out properly!

I'd love to fit an LCR splitter but it wouldn't last five minutes!
