how much soot is too much?

Featured Replies

Just wondering how much smoke should a standard vRS chuck out under load, bit worried that mine is getting a bit smokey.

Well, being the proud owner of what I think everyone will agree is without doubt the smokiest Fabia vRS in the UK (if not the world!), I would say you can never have too much soot.

Stop worrying and remember to live by the motto 'more smoke, more poke' :D

Mine was quite smokey in standard form. Try running some Forte Diesel Cleaner through it and then run it on Millers Diesel Sport and that should clear it up.

Also might be worth taking your EGR valve off and giving it a clean if need be.

Failing that change your air filter, That should reduce the amount of smoke!

Unless you're giving the beans! Then it smokes like a Beagle!

the car is officially 7 months old now and i've only covered 3.500 miles in it and was getting a bit worried as it seems to be smoking more recently. Everytime i accerlate faster than a snail i can see the waft of soot behind me and if i put my foot down i get a cloud. If its nothing to worry about then excellent

Didn't use to think mine smoked much at all... until it started getting darker earlier. now when booting it is really easy to see all the soot covering the idiot riding the back bumper

always makes me smile :)

If in 7 months u've done that many miles i'd say it needs a good kicking to clean it out

I sit with the foot to the floor alot and mines rarely smokes out the back as it's not getting a chance to back up and sit. I'd highly reccomend giving the car a good thrash for a few miles to clear it out

I got reccomended by a garage to run diesel cleaner through mines till i told them it was in daily use and gets death everyday. They retracted their reccomendation on the basis my driving is keeping it clean lol

I ran a cheap resistor mod for 50k, that smoked! lol..... in all honesty, don't worry about it :)

Sounds like you doing short trips, not a good idea in a diesel, all your soot is being stored up in the manifold and exhaust and good stamp on the throttle blows it all out.

When I got mine I had to bring it from our Stirling branch to my branch. I floored it on the way down the motorway and the smoke was un real. Could tell it'd never been driven hard in it's life.

That's now changed lol

I thought Skoda stopped the vRS in 2007, and the newest vRS will be an '07' and not an '09'

I rarely get use it as i got given a company car a month after i bought it. I manage to drive it about 2-3 times a month with each trip putting anywere to 50-300 miles on it at a go. I promise i boot it everywere.

found it unregistered in a showroom and couldn't resist

I think you will have to go back and see a Skoda dealer then. As it's under waranty they should look for any problems.

It's official! You are the jammiest sod ever!!!

I wonder if there are any more special editions lurking around anywhere unregistered....

Until I find my one I guess you must have the newest Fabia VRS In Britain.

Congratulations mate even though I'm seething with envy!!!

indeed, an 09 SE, and you're not putting many miles on it, nice for a future buyer looking for a good example :)
