Variable Servicing

Featured Replies

My Octy is on variable servicing and looking on the service info within the maxidot this morning I have 365 days left, a year from now. I know the car will most likely need to be serviced before then because of my driving style and mileage. However it got me thinking thou since I got the car from new in May this year does this mean that the days indicated within the maxidot refer to the build date, back-tracking to December 2008 when it became alive in the factory, should this be the case, or should the 2 years (730 days) start when the car was first registered and put on the road.

The 2 years, is a maximum. Variable is just that, so based on your driving to date it thinks it will be a maximum of 365 days until the next service. As you know the actual will be a lot less however.

Not all cars come from the factory on variable. Look in your service book for the QGC code.

All Octavias since 2001 have left the factory on variable servicing, however many are changed to fixed at the PDI so the QG code on the vehicle data sticker cannot be relied on.
