Coolant Level

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Every morning when I get in the car the Maxidot flashes a red coolant sign and shows "STOP CHECK COOLANT LEVEL". I get out each time and check it and it seems fine, it's on MIN before starting the journey and just about on MAX once I have driven to work. Any Ideas on this, should I maybe top it up a little bit?

The tempreature guage is fine and stays right in the middle so to be honest I havent actually stopped. Everything is running and sounding fine, apart from the idling issue which I have had problems with now for like a year.

Should I get the dealer to take a look, i dont really have much time especially with xmas coming up, or should I top it up a little bit myself?

If the coolant level is on minimum when cold, it needs topping up to the maximum level with a 50/50 mix of coolant and water. It will expand under load which explains why it is on the maximum level after use. Hope this helps.

It's not the old demon of the expansion tank creeping into the Fabia II is it?

My Fabia vRS started doing this so I changed the expansion tank and ever since it's been fine, if they are the same, they should only be about £12 from the dealers and easy to replace.

HTH
