Which new tyres?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Am after 2 new tyres and unfortunately due to xmas its on a slight budget. Have seen some Falken 452's, Cooper 2xs, Avon zz3 and Vredestein sportrac 3 on Camskill.co.uk.

Anyone had any experience of these. Need to get them ordered as soon as really so any adivce would be much appreciated.

Forgot to say its on a standard vrs with just minor suspension mods.

Thanks in advance

im soon to be in the market for some new rubber. have you thought what conditions you want them to perform the best in? some are really good in dry but not as good as others in wet. toyos 888 i think they are are about the best all round but wear quick. me personally am gona go for good wet weather tyres because of the torque my vrs has. think of the conditions you want them to perform the best in and how much you want spend and go from there.

I use the ZZ3's on my 53 LHD 110tdi estate here in France and find they are good all rounders and a cost effective choice. I got 32k (miles) out of the last pair on the front and perhaps 10k more out of the rears.

Tyres are silly prices here plus the ZZ3 is hard to find so I buy them online from UK and have them sent over by courier @ £6/pair. A local garage charges me €40 for fitting so the 4 I put on just a few weeks ago cost me £269 all up.

As an aside one problem in France is that most tyre outlets will only sell you a pair of tyres even though you may only need one say because of a puncture or damage. It's a convenient misinterpretation of the rule which says that tyres on the same axle should be of the same construction.

Bloody frogs !

PS: I buy from Camskill too

They are track tyres. they are road legal but ropey as hell when wet.

Toyo road tyres are called T1R's
