Oct DSG VRS CR 2.0 TDI Car 7s taxi experience!

Featured Replies

Hi been a great fan of this site glad to see its back up.

My first post ! Im abit of a mechanic (classic stuff) and one of the thousands of very satisfied Octavia II 1.9tdi owners ,excellen!t I had an Ambient 1.9tdi with dsg box as my first and second car, easy servicing with inexpensive genuine parts supply (trade not dealer!). However 8 weeks ago I had a midlife crisis on the the eve of my sons birth and went and bought an VRS CR 2.0 tdi with the DSG in racing blue. Awesome ! However as I know what a great handling car the Octavia is the ride comfort is seriously hard compared to the Ambiente etc as I believe its 14mm lower and sits on them there low profile badboys.

Its just too hard for my jobs needs (well for the customers!)So Im shopping around to find a suitable kit to raise the car ride height and soften it up, I also want to prevent grounding anyone got any ideas? can I acheive the best of both worlds without comprimising safety?? I will share my ongoing experiences of Skoda's seriously quick and agile Octavia and I clock up a lot of mileage very quickly in all kinds of conditions .As far as I know im the only taxidriver in my area mad enough to operate one.

So far I havent noticed an increase in fuel consumption after 5thousand miles , compared to the 1.9 variant. It is well equipped and my only niggle is the dsg box seems to change up to 3rd to quickly at 11000 to 1500 rpm occasionally and the engine seems to labour for a seccond also has a tendency to drop to 2nd quite sharply on a hill descent lurching the occupants forward!

I have heard this problem existed on some Vw s with the dsg box but I will await to find out from the dealer. So if any one can help with my suspension needs I would be gratefull. Will keep you posted on the car as used for a taxi by the one and only car 7!

(sacrilige..! Should probably have got the Lauren Klement but not quite forty yet..........!)

Welcome!

Try some Koni FSD dampers to soften and improve the ride...

Okay they seem to be the way to go Koni seem to have all the bases covered, but do i need to put in standard springs from a non vrs diesel to increase the clearence?Ta

Welcome :)

Hello and welcome to possibly the first person I've come across wanting to heighten the suspension on a vRS :o

welcome to briskoda

Hello and welcome.

Hello :hi:

Hello & welcome mate,

You would be better off copying this post to the Octy 2 section where more people would read it and respond.

FWIW, I went in the back of a vRS taxi a while back and I thought the ride was better than the standard cars by a mile, as it didn't wallow so bad in the corners, I didn't think it was hard at all?

Ben

Unless you are experiencing ground clearance issues, I'd stick with the standard springs.

Koni FSDs are great dampers and will improve ride comfort no end.

I assume you have 18" alloys. 17" alloys in the same style are available as the 18" ones used to be an optional extra. Swapping to the smaller wheels will give improved comfort for sure, will pocket you a few quid, and will only slightly affect appearance.

Let us know how you get on.

All very good points there.

Welcome to Briskoda! FWIW, I've seen an increase in the number of Octy vRS taxis doing the rounds at the moment. Always amuses me whe I see one though :)

...raising suspension? I know not what you-a mean? :S
