Furby Vrs to Octy Vrs at last !

Featured Replies

Well I took the plunge at last and changed my beloved Fabia Vrs for a Silver 06 Octy PD Vrs last week,,,,,, what a difference. Thought Id list the big points for you guys......

1. Build quality is massively better in the octy, feels like a much much more expensive car.

2. Fuel economy is much much worse in the octy,,,40 compared to at least 50

3. Interior miles and miles better in the octy,,,seats are great,,driving position so much better

4. Insurance was only 20 quid difference !

5. I actually reckon the furby was quicker off the mark, but you feel safer at speed in the octy.

6. Both very very good cars but glad I changed now !!

Anything I should be watching out for on the octy guys ??

Water coming into the boot when you open it after its been raining and has excess water on rear screen...... a minor point but a few have complained about it on here. Bloody annoying if you have important papers/newspapers/clothes/stuff in the boot. it can also drip onto the rear seats

I love fast diesel cars and I believe octy vrs is decent enough for my in all aspects and now when I own this car at last I enjoy it.

What you say in comparation with fabia I agree (dont care much about insurance and tax in Ireland for 07 reg) comfort is the main one.

For the boot try to open it so slow that you will see the water going in the channels arownd the lid. This is the solution i figured out open it verry, I say verry verry gently.

speed cameras lol

off the mark i think the furby would have it, once rolling its the octy i reckon.

does the cd changer read mp3 discs as well as the head unit ??

Congratulations, and sadly it's only the HU that reads MP3 discs.

I've swapped from an 06 Fabia vRS (from new) to a new Petrol FL Octavia vRS.

Only had a few days and am still getting used to it but initial feelings are the same regarding build quality and general feel.

Driving experience is taking some adjusting. It certainly makes a lot less fuss about things the Fabia. Perhaps less initial shunt which can be dissappointing but then it just keeps pulling as the power comes in where the Fabia would have needed a gearchange. Less front heavy as well although I haven't had the confidence yet to find out its true capabilities. Need a few more miles on the clock before that :)

Got to update this,,,

Now done over a thousand miles in a little over a week, mostly motorway miles, and Im shocked by the terrible fuel economy in a diesel engine !! Barely returning 42 mpg over a 540 mile trip home from plymouth is shocking really,,my furby vrs used to give me 56/57 mpg on this journey,,,is this normal ?? Must admit if Id of known this I might of thought twice about trading in the smaller car.

It will get better when the weather warms up...
