Pulling the interior apart!

Featured Replies

I've fitted some sound deadening to the boot and spare wheel well of my facelift vrs estate. I'm thinking of doing the rear wheel arches. My local dealer printed out some of the offical Skoda diagrams and details on how to do it. What it doesn't indicate is how much of a PITA it might be to put back together again. Anyone here pulled the rear interior out to add sound deadening? Was it as much of a pain as it looks?

Ta.

Hi there, can I ask where you got the sound deadening from, the make and what the approx cost of doing the boot / wheel well was ? Does it make a significant difference ? Something I was thinking of doing but would appreciate your feedback ! Cheers.

P.S. Apologies can't offer any help with the trim removal, but providing you follow the instructions closely I doubt it will be too much hassle. I had to remove all the cill trims etc to fit a parking sensor display to the dash and that went ok and all went back in place afterwards !

you have to remove the trim in a strict order - it interlocks and can break if you force it.

PM me for more info.

I got a kit from www.noisekiller.co.uk. It's helped a bit but there's still a bit of noise (roads really naff here). I havn't fitted all the kit, still got the doors and wheels arches to do. When it comes to the wheel arches I was thinking of using the noisekiller bits but also using some secondskin damplifier and sound deadening felt. I was also thinking of adding some secondskin to the boot as well as the noisekiller already in there.

As a rough idea of cost, bearing in mind I haven't gone ahead with second skin etc yet.

Noisekiller kit - £198

Bulk pack of second skin damplifier, 40sq feet - £100 (not bought yet)

Felt - ~£20 (not bought yet)

Anyone else added sound deadening and felt or something like this? If so did it have a good effect?

Jules59 - Will be in touch ta.
