clutch judder

Featured Replies

hi guys, i have owned an octavia vrs for a few months now and im overall very happy with it, however the previous owner changed the dual mass flywheel for a solid type with a new clutch fitted at the same time. i know the clutch was bought from ebay as it was cheaper.

the car drives really well accept for when im pulling away from a standstill or crawling in traffic, there is a fairly bad juddering when the clutch is just biting? if i release the clutch slowly whilst in gear to the point where its just about to bite you can feel the clutch juddering almost as if the clutch plate is warped and only touching on half of the surface?

i was wondering if any of you guys have had a single mass flywheel & experienced the same thing? or could it be that it is a defective clutch?

im seriously considering splashing out to put it back to a dual mass flywheel with another new clutch, but i wanted to get some feedback first in case its just a faulty clutch that was fitted.

sorry for the long winded post

i guess in short what im actially asking is do single mass flywheel conversions ordinarily work fine with no judder, or is the judder normal when a single mass flywheel is fitted?

any help or advice will be very much appreciated.

cheers guys
