Retrofit remote central locking?

Featured Replies

My car has central locking but I have to use the key in the lock. I was wondering if I could just buy a key fob and program it somehow - actually I think you program the ECU to recognise it don't you?!? But will the car have the receiver installed already or would one have to be fitted?

Thanks,

Dave

Tada!

There is a guide on here somewhere on how to fit that exact kit too.

Hi thanks, I knew there were 3rd party things like that but didn't realise they were that inexpensive so it looks like quite a good option :) I was wondering though if maybe my car might have the receiver already and just need a Skoda key fob programmed in. I know sometimes cars have features fitted but just deactivated.

Nope, not there as standard I don't think.

I can't find the guide as my search won't load, but it was easy to fit, and had a wire-by-wire guide. Also showed you how to transfer your current key into the fob to save getting another cut.

I think the Skoda key programming would probally equal or exceed the cost of the kit anyway.

Not sure about the company though, bits of it look a little suspect, but. . .

Joe.

:o £105!

But it'll work, Sometimes the cheaper option isn't the best!

True, true.

Happy with my key personally, until the locks freeze!

Carry a cigarette lighter during the winter, A gas one, Not a Zippo!

Thats genius, but so obvoius!

If there was a thanks/+ button, I would press it for you now.

I'm highly tempted by the price! You also get the slick flick key thing as well.. the only other option I could come up with was fit a Toad Cat 1 system to get the central locking and alarm and a second immobiliser?!

Would there be any other options to get remote central locking?

What would the parts list be if i wanted it done OEM style?

I'm guessing it will be expensive.. and looking at the earlier post with genuine Skoda key fob at £105 its not cheap and not so funky as the other retrofit kit.. but at that price it does make you wonder if its too good to be true :S

leys and fobs will not be a problem. i'm wondering about the other stuff. i saw something about a receiver or something so? the vehicle has full electric windows

I think if it doesn't come with remote central locking when it left the factory line it won't have the receiver, so need to source that. It might be possible to get a second hand one from the scrap yard, but that will probably cause more problems due to existing security set up.. I'm not too clued up with electronics so any help and advice would be appreciated

Also my earlier question of do I buy that cheap retro fit remote central locking kit or get a Toad Cat 1 alarm system installed that will have all the remote central locking things built in?
