The Greenline

Featured Replies

Just picked one up as a courtesy car!

Is it meant to sound like that?

A sort of nuts (metal hex, Not pistachios) in a coffee grinder noise!

That aside it ticks along reasonably well, Fifth gear is astronomical, I nearly stalled the car at 30mph!

But I wouldn't buy one, Just does feel as solid as my Fabia, If that makes any sense!

Well it went back today, And apparently they all sound like a Massey Ferguson!

Lordy my vRS is silent in comparison

My dad owns one, the gearing does take some getting used to. At 70+mph on the motorway the engine is suprisingly quiet given that its a 1.4TDi with only 3 cyclinders.

Hi Mike,

Yes...they do sound errr....different to how you might imagine especially when new or with only a few thousand miles on the clock. But...when they have at least 10k on the clock they do become cosiderably quieter and much much more powerful too. I don't have the Greenline I have the standard 1.4tdi estate. Now it's over a year old it's a different car noise, power and fuel consumption wise. It's just superb.

I personally wouldn't buy another petrol car.

Bests and happy Christmas

funny how long gearing helps with the fuel consumption.... i would have thought that early changes would have saved more!

only has 3 cylinders so is not as smooth

He he your description of the noise is excellent! I used to say my 1.4TDI Mk1 sounded like a hyperactive tractor!!
