Genuine Bluetooth versus Fiscon

Featured Replies

I need to fit a bluetooth kit to the Octy. I've got an MFD3 and have three choices - aftermarket boggo voice control - a Bury or something, "genuine" VAG bluetooth or Fiscon. The first option is a goer but as I've got the MFD I'd kinda like the full feature functionality of the other two however........the VAG option requires removing half the interior trim and arsing about with the wiring. The Fiscon is supposedly exactly the same but is plug n play..............

Whadda you lot think?

It's got to be OEM BT - you know you really want it.

Installation is very straight forward, if you don't want to do it speak with VRStu he's not that far from you and no one knows more about installing them...

Nope, not quite as clear cut as you would imagine - the Fiscon is almost the same price, appears to have EXACTLY the same functionality or improved and is plug n play so I'm struggling to justify the OEM........

Installation is a pain in the ass if its anything like the workthru on stu's site IMHO!

You won't get the stealth microphone with the Fiscon and I very much doubt that you'll be able to control it by just speaking to it via the Columbus with 266n/268n firmware.

With the Fiscon you'll end up removing much the same trim to route the mic cable and the dash box will also need to come out so you can sort out all the extra cabling as a result of the Quadlock break-in loom.

I bought a genuine VW one from Ebay Clicky Here, it came within a week with a wiring loom that requires no wire cutting or fiddling as it sits inline between the existing harness & the head unit.

Basically it is plug & play with a small amount of coding, you will however need to follow VRSStu's instructions on octavia-vrs.com as you will need to route the mic & you will need the brackets & covers for under the seat. the unit incidentally does not come with the metal bracket to mount the bluetooth module to the floor under the seat. The part number for this is 1Z0 035 815 (£5.20).

Stu's guide is quite old now, and even he no longer does it that way anymore...

You dont need to mount the control unit in the OEM position under the seat, you have plenty of space behind the climate/heating controls. Fitting it there should save the removal of lots of trim.

Interesting idea that - but there must be a lot of electrical interference in there, any ideas how this effects the BT transmission/reception when compared to the normal under the seat location?

On the verge of getting this one; 220515708075 from ebay. Chris has answered all my questions so I've made an offer which he will hopefully accept!

Wonder if it makes a difference if I plug it in before or after MFD interface?!!

Suprisingly little, I have my Nokia CK7-W bluetooth unit mounted there and it works just fine with no problem whatsoever.
