Facelifted VRS

Featured Replies

I've just seen my first facelifted VRS and it's not that different. The only difference I can see is the rear lights.

The standard models are a great improvment with the squarer front bumper.

I thought there was a difference in interior plastics, but, if there was, I couldn't see it.

What do you guy's think? Pherhaps a "facelift" owner can point out the improvements.

As far as I know (and as per my dealer) the rear light clusters are about it...

Changes on the vRS are the rear lights, slighty different rear "vRS" badge & removed rear door pins.

Should be able to confirm these changes in a weeks time!!!

Yep, my newly acquired brochure states there are no other mods to the vRS, although the other models are new!

Door pins? The locking thing at the top? If so, then yes mine doesn't have them on the back doors...

Theres a few other non visable changes aswell... Cant remember what they are though

Do tell Ross

My vRS hasn't yet been handed over (being modified) but I think the grille is very subtly different - the vanes appear to be at an angle (but still vertical) rather than perpendicular. Other than the rear lights and the deletion of the rear door lock buttons I think that's it. I didn't see there was any difference in the rear badge.

I didn't spot any other difference internally - though the lower models get revised fabrics on the seats.

Unfortunately the dealer didn't have any facelift brochures on display.

There is however a price increase of

The rear badge IS different in that it is chunkier, the rear clusters are smooth, no rear door pins AND the feel of the dash is a lot softer to touch than pre-facelift, much like the feel of my previous golf 4

mine's a 05 model, diff rear lights and the door lock pins are the only thing I've noticed ( I test drove an 04..) The plastic on the dash seems the same and its not quite as "quality" a feel as my mrs's golf mk4

Dash plastics havent changed for sure (I tend to see quite a few of them).

There are a few electrical changes, quite a few of the components for the convienance system have all been upgraded to the higher spec parts usually fitted to Elegance models. This makes next to no difference to the operation of the car however, just saves them making different types of ECU's.

Mine too is an 05 model, and I had it on good authority that the dash plastic was different. It certainly looks hard and brittle, but is actually pretty spongy....again much like my previous mk 4 golf.

Hey whether it is or isn't different I'm not really bothered i STILL love my little furby to bits

Took delivery of my new 2005 spec VRS last friday px"d old spec VRS, all the problems i had with the old one have vanished everything i liked about the car are still there, iam very happy at last .

I'm intrigued - as the facelift was so minor, what were the previous problems which the new one has cured?

The previous car had lots of rattles, grinding noise when reversing, crunching noise when engaging second and lots of teathing troubles which were sorted by the dealer eventually but were iritating at the time.

New car is faultless and just drives better, finish is excellent.

Previous VRS had 12500miles on when it whent in.
