Apologies for resurrecting an old thread, but Nick had given me some good pointers in my search for winter wheels for my recently acquired VRS.

After failing miserably with a variety of websites and visiting a few places that don't hold stock to do trial fits ... I've been to Oldham today, a company called Wheelbase. "35,000 wheels in stock"

They mainly trade on eBay , however, they do have a counter at their warehouse and a fitting bay.

Explained the vrs winter tyre dilemma, picked a nice simple 5 spoke 16" alloy, that fits other Octies, excellent customer service, trial fit "no trouble at all sir", pleased to say it fitted over the caliper without a problem.

Their computer database said only the 18 fits, but clearly computers can be wrong.

Well worth the trip over, 4*65 for the wheels and 4*88 for Good Year winters. 729 in total, slightly better than 1200 from main dealer.

Expect lots of perfect Vega wheels to flood eBay, now that I've bought new.

My winter wheels came from Wheelbase, though via eBay, and they were very helpful with a few questions I had when they arrived. That was wheels only, as they didn't do the Nokian WR A3s I was after.
