H&R Lowering Springs

Featured Replies

Im looking at fitting a set of H&R lowering Springs to the car. I have a choice of 30mm drop or 45mm. Which would you recommend? With the shorter spring will view move around a little more?

Cheers

I've dropped mine 30mm, to be fair, if your going for looks then another 15mm would make a lot of difference, but the difference from std is a lot!! with the -30's. They've just recently dug the road up near me and with the new ride height I had a lot of problems with speed bumps, so bare that in mind (especially with the additional splitter)!!!

Yea I think I'll play it safe and go for the 30mm drop. The roads where I live are not great. Going so order then today.

How much would be the norm for fitting Springs in the UK? I could fit the rear Springs myself in half an four. So just to get the front done, how much?

I splashed out a hole 70 sheets for front and back, had it done during mot/service so swmbo was non the wiser!! I think the going rate is a lot higher than that though, I should imagine you will get the fronts done for that money.

30mm will be ample. to low and you'll ruin the ride, and handling in my opinion.

Keep in mind that the lowering in mm is measured from an original car. The VRS is already (wow) 12mm lower.

So the 35mm springs will give you about 23mm lowering and the 50mm springs a 38mm lowering.

I am driving the entire ComfortCupKit, that means 35mm springs and dampers.

Looks nice - needs more low, though!

Going to order the 30mm springs on Monday. Car needs to be dropped especially with the 18" on it it sitts too high.

My car is used as a longdistance car and a familymover. Already had trouble twice that the car scraped the road when going up a driveway, never had that with std height.

50mm for my driving profile is too much. Would also affect comfort too much.

The setting as it is now is excellent, ride is a little harder but because of the better damping comfier. Dont have to brake to an almost standstill for speedbumps anymore.

Highspeed stability improved (allthough, in my car, it wasnt bad at all before) and off course cornering.

To have a daily driver with a better handling/balance and without suffering too much, (for me) this is an excellent solution.

In optical sense the car should be lower emoticon-0105-wink.gif

Air ride, it is the way forward!

Ever driven airride?

No way airride is coming in one of my cars. If than air suspension from the factory, but not the aftermarket air ride systems.

For looks it is OK, because it can put the car on the street. But for drive, no way.

Ah! You see air-ride is actually very good now, it's come a long way, and is much better than hydraulics.

The 30mm springs do give a nice stance and a good all round choice.
