De-cat or not?

Featured Replies

Im considering a miltek exhaust but im in two minds about the downpipe.Would the de-cat still pass an mot?is there much diffrence between having the de-cat and the sports cat?

Go for it! i got full milltek and decat, it still passes mot and it sounds deeper when you put foot down, more petrol like anyways,

is it noisy in the car?or just outside?

So many dead kittens....

De-cat WILL pass the mot on the particulate test. I've had mine on for 2 mots now.

As for noise, it makes it sound like a slightly throatier tractor - but doing the exhaust alone will do little. Combine with a bigger air intake and you might notice a small difference. Do not expect miracles. This doesn't release a load of power, just makes the car rev easier and breathe easier.

The cat is not currently tested for diesels, they undergoe a smoke test only, so yes you will still pass an MOT without anytrouble with no cat whatsoever.

de-cat all the way. it sounds sweet. nuff said. MOT wise you'll be fine

does ftting a decat cause turbo problems?

does ftting a decat cause turbo problems?

Arguments for and against. Personally, I would be more concerned about dodgy remap causing turbo issues than a de-cat. I had mine de-catted about 12 months ago, with 100k on the clock. It's now at nearly 130k (+/-100k remapped) on original standard turbo and clutch.
