I'm currently driving a Golf GT TDI 115 (2001, Y reg) which I'm trading for a Fabia vRS '04 plate on Wednesday, so I thought I'd drop by here to say hello.

Also, I've read that the vRS was slightly updated in 2005 and I'm wondering if anyone here can provide me with any details of this update?

Main changes to Fabia VRS in 2005 where

1: Engine changed from ASZ to BLT (Tighter emission control)

2: Gearbox ratios made shorter in 5th and 6th gear

WRT item 1, the BLT engine can suffer from hesitation at certain revs. There is an EGR valve gasket mod that fixes it. (11mm gasket hole)

WRT item 2 this gives slightly better acceleration, but reduced fuel economy at motorway speeds.

my car is also on a '04 plate and has the shorter ratio'd box and i think this was changed arounf 53/04 ratehr than in 2005

as well as the engine change the 2005 "facelift" had minor changes like rear lights (which some here will tell you are an essential upgrade for pre-facelift cars) rear 3 point sealtbelt in the centre rather than lap, folded rear seat warning light, etc

Well spotted that man, gearbox was indeed changed at an earlier date. Just testing
