Labour cost for new clutch

Featured Replies

Considering it's a "down south" price, do people agree with me that

Sounds fair to me.

got a clutch, flywhee; and bearing fitted by a mechanic for

btw dealer quoted me

Skoda UK's Fleet Management costings shows 3.50 hrs for changing a clutch.

the clutch and housing on our 4x4 died within 18months. took 7 hours labour to sort out - warranty

Does it seem fair to me ?.............well I wish I was on

It sounds like a fair price for a dealer down south :)

but... as everyone says their prices are a bit higher!

Mine cost about

banana, what was your milage when your clutch went??

just out of interest

Sounds fair to me.

Fancy a "foreigner" Ross ................ :D

Perhaps I should shut up , but as it is something I'm quite closely involved with and feel quite strongly about .......I won't .... :D

Manufacturers give you a 3 year warranty , so for the first 3 years of ownership you take your car to the main dealer for servicing , warranty work etc ..........great , they rip you off every time you set foot in that dealership , they love it ...............most cars are not privately owned , they are either company cars or on lease ................but for privately owned cars there is an alternative ...............take your car to your local independant garage , and as long as they use reputable parts or genuine (as all "geniune" parts are made by reputable manufacturers and are available under another name)....your warranty should still be intact .

I say should , because , if having your car serviced by an independant garage , you then have a warranty claim , they will try to wriggle out of the warranty claim by saying you have not had your car serviced by a main dealer and that original ....shall we say "Skoda" parts had not been fitted to your car .

There is a new law in place now that say's you don't have to take your car to a main dealer for servicing etc to maintain your warranty .............but they they will do their best to get out of it ..............Why do you think that Manufacturers offer a 3 year or even in some cases a 5 warranty on their vehicle ...............It isn't because they love you .............believe me ;)

Banana? You speakin' to me? :D

Just about 40K (2

I think he was talking to flyingbanana, re his 4x4....

Bengie, if of any interest, I'm still on my original clutch at 73k, and mine is hardly standard or driven carefully, although I think I'm sympathetic to the clutch, getting it rolling in 1st then changing to 2nd before full throttle. I find the short 1st gear in the 4x4 means full throttle just means hitting the redline almost instantly, so no point..

mine went @ 95k and i'm pretty sure it was original, beware the gearbox at around 100k tho :(

at least mines all fixed now, just need to get it back
