stream hu in octy 2 losing reception in normally really strong areas ... is it knackered??

did its usual bang through speakers a short while ago so was this a sign???

Dodgy ariel ,very common fault if you do a search for it ,hope that helps.

Just to clarify, there is a signal booster in the base of the roof antenna, water ingress usually wrecks the electronics so it will need to be replaced with a revised version.

I have had the odd shot gun bang, but after that it has been fine

I could be wrong but IIRC that bangwas the sign of an issue with the radio....ie replace.

Also not 100% sure but there could have been a software update for them, but you should check with your dealer.

may also be worth checking aerial connection to back of radio as it may not be fully connected.

Most likely water ingress in the mast base, as suggested above.

There is a Stream unit software update available to solve this "banging" problem.

There is a Stream unit software update available to solve this "banging" problem.

If it's software upgradeable, can they do a software upgrade so that the stream will read MP3's ?

no

This bang is only a reset of the machine....you can provoke this as well:

Turn radio off, turn radio on again and keep button pressed for about 10 seconds....bang, radio turns off and, after turning it on again it has lost the information which MP3 it was playing....so it is reset.

Incidentliy, that way you can also bring it to work again once it banged and got silent....no need to turn off ignition.

As for the reception problem, I'd also say this might be a faulty arial.
