Non-UK options & 1.8 DSG?

Featured Replies

Managed to waste a good hour of my employer's time today watching Yeti clips on YouTube (there's loads once you start digging!). Well it is my last day at the office before Christmas so they can't expect me to work (and no, luckily I'm not an air traffic controller or work in a nuclear power station, lol).

Interesting to see some things which seem to be non-UK, one Yeti was a weird dark purple colour, and quite a few had a very nice wood effect trim on the dash which according to an older post here is not a UK option. Why is it that all the bits you see and think "That's nice" are not available in the UK??

Can't see any mention anywhere of DSG being available on the 1.8tsi? It's not in the brochure either, should we expect this to come later on?

Any 200+ bhp versions? :D

That purple colour is being launched on the Superb Estate next year, I expect it will make it to the rest of the range pretty soon.

I actually like it because I think the Yeti suits unusual colours, I like weird colours anyway. If I was billionaire I would have a Maybach and have it in like a creamy dog poo brown....

Doesn't sound appealing but better than black or silver.

Yes a 2.0tsi would be nice, if it's good enough for the Tiguan it's good enough for the Yeti :D

But I'm sure someone will be along soon with a remap for the 1.8 to take it to 200bhp.

MDI is not an option in the UK either for some reason.

Are you listening Skoda UK?!

Now that it has a few miles on it, I a getting less carefull with the rpm and lead foot: The 125 kW has IT OK. Powerful surge around 2500 - later than the PD engines, but there.

A re-map to 200 HP should be no big deal, and really not required.

Noteable difference betwen the 140 and 170 HP 2.0 TDI are:

1.Larger stainless dual exhaust outlets - not turned down, Diesel style.

2. Significantly larger front brake discs - difficult to measure with the wheels on,. but around 325 mm diameter.

3. Different aftercooler/Ac/radiator arrangement - all blanked off for natural flow, except where the two cooling fans are located.

Keeping the rpm betwen 2200 amd 3500 makes a world of difference. Not like the PD, where the power came on líke a mule kick at 2000, but a smooth surge approaching 2500. The guts are there, it just takes a different approach from either the petrol or the PD versions..

The newer driving style did drop from 6.1 to 6.5 l/100 km.

I still think it is like a Fiat Panda on steroids - damn handy and bystanders wonder......
