Frozen doors

Featured Replies

In the recent cold spell, every morning all my doors are frozen shut and a very difficult to open without a mammoth tug. It seems that ice forms on the top felt strip and glues the door to the roof lip.

Anyone else suffer from this?

Looks like a design issue to me.

My 05 Fabia sometimes has the same problem, not so much on the drivers side as it's sheltered up against the house but the passenger side doors were really difficult to open!

I guess it's just one of those things, my Focus had the same problem.

Most cars do... half-boil a kettle and poor it over the door. Job done :)

Common problem with a lot of cars. Spray some silicone along the seals, it will help.

Just spray deicer into the felt, ive done that to mine and toach wood my doors have not froozen up again.

Just spray the seals with a silicone release agent :)

or put a car cover on (on yourself that is, not on the car)

I've had this problem with other cars but not my Fabia yet.

I'd be careful with the boiling water trick as it's possible for the residue from the hot water to refreeze when you're in the car and thus make it more difficult for you to get out!

I found just warm water on drivers door. Once in it was just a case of pushing the other doors open.

Hello

I have had the same problem but found that if I wipe the door and frame dry and give it a squirt of de icer its fine. This has lasted a whole week of cold weather. The first time it happened I had visions of the rubber seal tearing but spraying opened it ok.
