Increasing BHP for Octavia 1.6 Classic

Featured Replies

I recently bought an Octavia and absolutely love the car. I love the way it looks and performs for the money I have spent. I would like to keep this car for years to come as this is my first car that I own...previous ones were my dad's.

So I basically want to style it and increase it performance. I know about what to do for styling but don't have much clue about the performance bit.

I wanted to know what I can do to increase bhp and performance for my car ie if possible. I have read a bit about engine re-mapping but felt that its not going to be worth it as it may give a max of 10% increase to bhp as its only a 1.6. I would greatly appreciate if anyone can give me ideas on what I can do to increase my car's performance and hoepfully have increased BHP.

Thank you for all your suggestions.

Sell it, buy a vRS!

Really not worth bothering with the 1.6. If you do still want to... full intake, full exhaust, cams and a remap should get oooh... 8-15bhp :)

What Babs said.

I had a Golf 1.6 prior to my vrs and the money you spend is totally pointless for the small gains you get.

By the way... the list of what I said would run to over £1500 if you buy decent kit! £100 per bhp! ;)

all the above are absolutely right, you cant gain anymore than 20bhp MAX without spending a fortune. The same amount would let you swap the car for a VRS

Say if I install a turbocharger...wouldn't it work? Is it possible? or is it just 2 expensive for what I get from it?

Serioiusly, buy a vRS!

Looking at £2,000 minimum for basic turbo + manifold kit since most of it will need custom work, ECU plus mapping , injectors, FMIC, pipework, filters, etc, etc....

lol Babs... I get the point..lol

vRS you get the styling already done to :)

Stage 1 remap on a vRS will see you to an easy 240bhp+ as you've probly already read

Seriously, it's just worth it, when you can get a vRS for not a lot of money!
