Mk1 Octy vrs over revving (please help)

Featured Replies

Hi all, hope you've all had a good christmas,

We topped the oil up about 3 weeks ago and about 2 weeks ago the car started revving really high when accelerating. It was only really noticable in 2nd gear upwards but now it's doing it in every gear and it's getting worse, could it be the clutch slipping?

We can still get every gear no problem but its getting really annoying coz if you try and overtake something or just accelerate in general the revs shoot up as though you've put the clutch down and then eventually find a level and even itself out.

Please Help,

Thanks in advance,

Azz

Yes that sounds exactly like the clutch going to me, and it sounds pretty bad so I'd look at getting something done ASAP if you can emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Cool, thanks for that, car's parked up now till after the new year when the garage opens, does anyone know roughly how much it'd cost?
