Is my clutch on its way out

Featured Replies

after my wife attempted a hill start on snow the other night (and failed )i think she might have burnt the clutch as it still stank the day after !!! just took it for a run out and it seemed fine the smell had gone i could engage all gears and there was no signs of slippage, but when i reversed back on to the drive there was a bit of ice so the car struggled a little, there wasen't any apparent slippage but that burning smell came back, is it possible that that she has just glazed over the friction suface or is it cooked for good and i will need a new clutch and f wheel soon

cheers

if she had cooked it there would be no drive therefore no clutch

I've always noticed my clutch give a bit of a whiff when backing up a decent incline and I'd say that I was normally quite easy on clutches.

Reverse seems quite long compared to other cars I've driven so I find I have to give it revs and slip the clutch more than I'd like when doing tricky parking on a hill.
