Octavia 4x4 Problem - Help!

Featured Replies

Hello

We own a 57 plate Octavia Estate 4x4 Diesel (140bhp) and it has run faultlessly since new. We love our Skoda and in the snow & ice we have at Christmas it was amazing. However a fault has developed......

It started like this: Normal driving then suddenly it was as if someone had disconnected the throttle - it just stopped working, the car would slow, revs drop....so I'd dip the clutch and as soon as the revs dropped to tickover speed the throttle would start to work again! This happended say 4-5 times in a 20 mile journey. No warning lights.

Then, just today, started the car and we have a warning light - like a yellow engine and the car will not rev over 3000 revs - says in the manual the light is emissions or something like that and performance has been reduced so it can still be driven - but to a dealer.

The car is booked in for Monday.

Anyone have any ideas what this might be or experienced something similar?

Thanks in advance

Its funny because we were just chatting about swapping the Octavia for a Yeti when the problems started.....think it heard us! :giggle:

Sounds like its going into limp mode - maybe the CAT is blocked ?

I had this happen on a VW Lupo (Petrol), it only happened once and turning it off and on again seemed to fix it!

Had same problem with my 4x4 turned out it was the N75 valve, replaced under warranty and everything has been fine ever since (fingers crossed)

Had the same issue with a VW Sharan (not the same vehicle granted) it turned out to be the Mass Airflow sensor (MAF) Replace it myself for £90.

Thanks everyone for your replies, its in the dealer tomorrow. I'll be sure to let you know the outcome of that.

My Scout was in the dealers for a service and I was 'hanging my nose over' the Yeti. The salesman told me not to bother as it's the same as the Scout apart from the looks and the Scout is the better car.

So I'm stayin' as I am.

What do dealers know......

Octavia Scout surely has to be far better value than Yeti at the current price. Spelling!!? :giggle:

Very true particularly if your looking at the petrol option. Don't know why they bother with the Yeti 1.8TSI in the UK, as financially it makes no sense at all at the current RRP; knock £1000 off then maybe.

In this instance though I was more referring to the salesman stating the Scout and the Monster are the same bar looks. ;)

Had the 4x4 fixed at dealers yesterday.

No fuss and all is well - it was a "pressure sensor"

Thanks everyone for your help and input
