Help is appreciated , My rear glass washer is not working

Featured Replies

Hi all

I have got my new Octavia Fantasia manual gear just 2 days ago

I have explored it rapidly

but unfortunately I can`t make the back glass washer working, I have tried the steps described in the manual book of the car, but the steps make only the front glass working not the back.

I think there is an error in the manual book

Can any one help me by simply describing how to make these back washer works ???

Much Regards

make sure you are using skoda approved screenwash as non approved corrodes the pipes and makes your warranty claim invalid and floods your boot. Stealers then want over £100 to fix, hasnt happened to me but several times recently the dealership and a salesman warned me of this particular endearing little added extra that Skoda has added to your vehicle. Might not be the fault but worth ruling it out with the current temps. Good luck.

have you tried pushing the wiper stalk away from you

as if to turn rear wiper on then a push beyond that should make it work

if not you may have frozen jet on back window just wait for it to defrost then increase your screen wash additive to a lower freeze point

i have had a fault in other cars where the low temps make the fluid expand and it 'pops' off connectors resulting in pools of water behind the trim!

It's not low on fluid is it? In my Saab, when the washer fluid warning comes on, the fronts still work, but it disables the rear washer until I've topped up the system...

Washer feed pipe popped off in the boot is a good starting point. If you have water in the boot, under the carpet, left hand side when looking into the boot, its the cause. You can fix it yourself in 10 minutes if it is the problem. Dont pay for it, its really easy to do. As for screen wash, I have used Halfords premium screen wash with no problems, as have many on this forum.

Thanks for all

My car is a brand new one

I have got my octavia just 4 days ago, but I did not test everything in my car untill today.

also the weather is not so cold in my country ( Egypt ), so I`m quite sure that the washer fluid is not freezed,

the problem is that my rear wind swipper is not working when I push the lever forward, it makes the front wind swipper only to work but not the rear swipper.

So How could I fix it ??

Thanks for all your help and support

Much Regards

take it back to the dealer if its new, give em hell ;)

push away from you not pull towards you

mine is not working either. When i bought the car it was working fine. I seldom use it, it just stopped working someday.

Put your front wipers on, then select reverse gear..your rear wiper should come on automatically..if it does, check your manual again, if it doesn't, your rear wiper is faulty

Thanks for all your help

I have tried all these tricks but still not working.

Unfortunately when I called the Skoda agent , they advised me to check the car with the maintainence department.

Cars from great company like Skoda and VW should be checked , inspected and tested for quality before being sold.

My Skoda Estate is always doing this. The tubing to the rear screen washer is too short and keeps popping off. I have not solved it yet but can always tell as there is green coloured water around the spare wheel

Maybe the rear screen wash jets are blocked..Can you hear the motor working when you push the stalk. If so,remove the nut cover on the wiper arm and you'll see the jet underneath the cover.Remove it by gently by levering it with a small flat bladed screwdriver and try working the screen wash now.If water comes out then the jet is a problem.Either open the holes with a thin needle or wire or it's best to replace it.The jet holes are so small and if normal water was used these tend to corrode and the same will happen again.Had the same problem on my Octy, replaced the jet, only costs around 7 euros.
