Dump Valves

Featured Replies

Would an aftermarket dump valve invalidate

1. skoda warranty

2. skoda finance terms and conditions?

I take it the standard DV doesnt make the whooosh sound as the air is recirculated isnt it?:drive1:

Correct, day tripper. However you will find that atmospheric dump valves are advised against for 1.8T engines as they confuse the ECU. You can fit other recirculating dump valves - the Forge is popular (I think the model is DF5 or something like that - you can find links on the main page to suppliers). Don't know about your warranty - wouldn't have thought it would be a big deal.

You could keep the standard recirculating dump valve and get one of these instead :D

Sunami fake dv lol. I bet areal one is easier to fit and cheaper to buy that that! Although it might be an idea to fit it to my capri!

The real one takes (literally) seconds to fit.

Sorry got side tracked completely by the fake dv, what i ment to ask the forge recirculating dv, do they still make a ptttttshhh noise?

Is yours chipped?

When standard (ok, only 150bhp) I could not hear the DV at all, but since remapped it makes a really noticeable "chirp", most people ask me which DV it is, most are surprised when I tell them it's stock!

Put the money towards a remap if you want more "sound" (and lets be honest, we all like a bit of that :D)

Not really - the pttttttshhh noise is made by the pressure venting to atmosphere. Apparently the recirculating ones do make some noise, but I've never heard mine - suppose it's a question of driving around with the stereo off and the windows open....

Edited to say - well maybe you need that extra 20 bhp to get it really singing ... :D

When I had mine Jabba'd, the DV diaphragm was split (no great surprise there) so they fitting a Bailey DV suitable for the 1.8T.

It's definitely noisier than standard (split or not) but I bought it for longevity rather than noise or cosmetics(?). rather than have to fit another Bosch one in 20/30000m.

Yeah, same here - split when Jabba'd - but I just had another stock one fitted. Mike showed me how to test it so I will check it out every now and then. One day might buy an after market one, but an extra

I thought it was more of a "chaa" noise?:D

Cheers.

Adrian.

I'll be fitting a hybrid DV when i get mine Jabba'd - that recircs enough to shut the ECU up and vents the rest :D :D :D

Cant wait!

You'd have to watch me cos I'd have your car away ....

Adrian,

Go Fast Bits do the hybrid one which is used by loads of 1.8t owners (reading vwvortex in the states and seat/golf owners here). Although they do say that you need to have it chipped (ie boost upped) otherwise there is not enough to recirc - or something like that and you get the ECU wobbly

Try tracking one of the things down in the UK though has proved to be hard work and I haven't been successful yet!

...and you get the ECU wobbly
That's a bit technical even for me. Moving this thread to my Performance for the experts to have a good splutter over.

One of these is a hybrid and both make wooshing noises when they are peeved..........dog.gifdog1.gif

I will ask them what they think when im down for my remap (booking in by fone tomorrow , woo hoo!) if they reccomend one , il have them fit one on , it only takes a few mins.
