FL vrs fan staying on after driving

Featured Replies

I have been enjoying my new FL vrs CR so far, but I am a little concerned...

Twice after longish quickish journeys, the fan has stayed on after parking the car. Both times the outside temperature was quite cold (about 2 degrees).

I was very suprised the fan was required. On my previous car the fan would only stay on when it was a hot day.

Yesterday was the second time this happened, and there was a feint rubbery smell coming from somewhere. I am hoping it is down to the newness of the car, and after the gentle running in period, I am now being a bit heavier with my right foot!

Has anyone else experience this behaviour, or should I take it back to the dealer?

Perfectly normal

The rubbery smell will be the new parts wearing in.

Dont worry

I've had the fan stay on after a long run of ~200 miles (with a bit a spirited driving, but the last few miles were steady) when it was 3-4 degrees. I left it for a couple of minutes, but it remained on so I started the engine for roughly ten seconds and then stopped it - the fan stopped. As it has only happended once I am not too bothered, but if anybody knows why this might be I would be interested.

I find it strange that the engine temps would be so high this time of year TBH....

It happened twice too me (outside temperature was close to 0 degrees C) .

My dealer says that this is normal.

Matjaz

its normal, external temp has nothing to do with it as the engine will run at the same temperature regardless of the external temperature. All that happens in cold weather is it takes longer to reach the operating temperature. My 2.0PD does it as well, as does my dads Fabia greenline.

Mine does the same sometimes when I arrive at work after commuting traffic ( 23 miles ). I just restart engine and then switch off and fan stops, strange but not too concerned.

Tony.

The only time I have had my fan running is when the car was returned after it's

first service, and I suspect the driver had been having fun in it :)
