My washer fluid ran out this morning without so much as a light on my dash?

Should I assume my warning light is not working or I dont have one?

Car is a FL vRS without maxi-dot.

AFAIK you get the warning light if you've got headlight washers...

No - my previous Octavia II (4x4, but not the Scout) had headlight washers, but no Xenons, and the warning light! With headlight washers you get an extra large washer bottle...

Mine has Xenon/washers and has the light.

Apparently HTH means "Home Town Hero", or "High Test Hypochlorite" or sometimes "Hotter Than Hell"

As above, only if you have headlight washers will you get a warning.
