Octy 2 Diesel with DPF, any problems ?

Featured Replies

Those of you who have been around here for a while may remember my threads some time back re our Superb 2.0 & all the problems we had with the DPF

That thankfully was sold last year & replaced with the Abarth (stunning car)

The point of this thread is the old faithful octy 1 is approaching 160 K & we are looking to replace it with an Octy 2, probably one a couple of years old.

We dont want the VRS but fancy a 4x4 Diesel which I understand has a DPF. If I get bad reports on this thread it will be an L&K as I gather they arent fitted with the dreaded device

I really want to know if anyone has had any problems with the DPF's & also what MPG is like, our Superb was approx 10 mpg worse than the 1.9 non DPF model

Also any get rid of the dpf fixes available

Thanks in advance Stuart

DPFs are not suitable if you drive mainly short trips. There are many threads on the subject best do a search as many people will not repeat themselves.

Ive had my vRS now for just over a year and i've done about 12,000 miles in it. Never had any DPF problems and I do a mixture of short and fairly long drives. (From 10-100 miles) As mentioned by Octavia5 if you do lots of town driving you might have some issues as the exhaust temp isn't high enough to start a regen of the DPF. My MPG hovers around the 40mpg mark mainly due to my brisk driving but on many a trip upto Scotland it has returned over 50mpg.

I've had a 2.0 TDi 4x4 with DPF for a couple of years now and 23,000 miles and no problems so far (touch wood) but it does get one higher speed run a week now from Sheffield to Chesterfield. MPG generally tends to be high 30's trundling round town, with a combined low 40's and up to 55 on a run (IIRC).

Yep

Lived with one on the Superb, they also fail at high altitude & on long mountain decents
