Starter motors

Featured Replies

hi guys, my felicia is running great thanks to you lot, but starting it by rolling down hill is getting a bit tiresome!

It clicks when the key is turned, and rocking it in gear sometimes makes it start, but I reckon I need a new starter.

How many different types of starter are there? Will an mpi unit fit for example? I have a 1.3 Estate with the older SPI engine (r reg)

Thanks!

All the 1.3 starters are the same. I'm not 100%, but I think they fit other size engines too, but all the 1.3s are DEFINITELY common.

As above all the 1.3 starters are interchangeable (the early favorit ones were bigger, but still work) and they are the same as the 1.6 starters.

Just changed the starter on my 1.6 £60 for an exchange one and a literal 5 minute job to do.

as above, the 1.3 spi and mpi, and the 1.6 petrol all have the same starter motor, the diesel one will fit also but it is much larger if you get really stuck trying to find one,

Well, I don't know why I'm so attached to the felly, but I've just sunk 82 quid into a new starter. My local (usually dirt cheap) motor factor came up with a price of 130 exchange, shame really as my pads, disks and seal kit cost 32 from them!!

Anyway, got this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SKODA-FELICIA-FAVORIT-STARTER-MOTOR_W0QQitemZ120514508845QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item1c0f39782d#ht_504wt_1168 which I thought was a decent price considering its not an exchange basis.

If anyone needs a starter to use as an exchange unit let me know !! :)
