Thanks for all the replies so far, I have found out a few gremlins since looking into this issue.

Transitions® Lenses

"They are not suitable for use inside cars when driving, as windscreens absorb the UV-light used for Transitions® Lenses to work. "

Better option maybe.

http://www.visionpark.net/lensoptions.asp

"Drivewear LENSES are a relatively new high-performance sun lenses (not clear indoors) made especially for those who are always on the road. They are a hybrid of POLARIZED SUN LENSES and TRANSITIONS. Drivewear varies in darkness and tone according to light conditions. The lenses change from pale yellow to dark amber when exposed to UV or visible light, so they work well behind the wheel of a car, unlike Transitions , which is activated only by UV (sun) light. Drivewear is available in single vision, line bifocal, and progressive lens styles."

Also as we live on mainland europe, there are many places we drive in daylight with headlights on, wearing sunglasses !!!! in fact our Skoda 4x4 puts lights on automatically., .

Serengeti will do prescription lenses in poloroid and photochromatic, you will pay a couple of hundred quid for them but they have some cool frames and they are regarded as the best driving glasses. Sunglasses for driving without being polarized are about as usefull as tits on a bull. I don't find RayBans as good as they used to be ( not Bausch & Lomb anymore ). I can also recommend Revo and Bolle.

You are right, also have a serengeti. Very comfortable to wear and very good lenses. Even if it gets a bit darker or in foggy weather.

Summit make a drop down green plastic visor that clips onto the existing one. Most car shops will sell it.

Aviators FTW !!!

I like them so much I have two pairs

If they are good enough for Tom Cruise then they are good enough for me
