here is the link for the connect2 kits:- (cheapest I could find them!)

Connect2 kit

Cheaper here

I want that headunit - Pioneer 80BT?

Do you have to buy the ipod adaptor separately or does it come with it?

You have to use a specific Ipod to USB connector that goes from the Ipod connector to a USB & 2 audio in leads to the back of the headunit. Costs about £35 - think its called a CD-IU230V???? (oh dear - techno-geek!)

Yeah its the 80BT! Bought off a website that was closing down for £135 delivered! Cheapest I can find it even now is £280!!!

For those that have asked, the double cup holder shown in my pics on the linked thread is VW Part Number 6X0 857 558A 01C. Price (IIRC) around £30 - 40 from any VW dealer.

And the mount that clips on the vent was from Asda - don't have any details of the make sorry - but it was about a fiver.

Thanks alot Andy

I've been looking at getting a connect2 for my symphony HU but it says it connects in the autochanger socket, so does that mean the autochanger won't work or is it still connected with the new connect2 loom ?

The auto changes is the 6-cd magazine. Do the vrs' have these?

If yours does then yes it will remove the changer and have ipod insted.

If not then it will just work as normal..

Thanks, my vrs has a 6 disc autochanger but would prefer the iPod connection

Yeah you would loose the multi changer function and the ipod would take it's place.

I'd leave the multi changer in place as iirc the loom is a pita to remove. then when ya get rid of the car it'll just be a case of plug it back in :)

OK. The Connects2 interface has arrived from the E-Bay link I posted above.

Hmmmmmmmmmm don't know if it's me being to cautious but the packaging looks a bit, copied, if you know what I mean. Maybe not original.

Symphony is spelt "Symphany" on the bar coded label on the side of the box. :S Although the seller comes up on the Connect2 website as a dealer so maybe they're all like that.

Simple spelling mistake?

As long as it work.. who cares? Post up yur results.

It works, can't work out the playlist bit yet, maybe because with all default iPod ones i(90s music 25 most popular or whatever) I probably have more than 6 playlists.

Anyone who thinks this will be a 10 minute job is in for a shock. The head unit is very difficult to get back in place. I've struggled for over an hour. There's always something blocking it from sliding back in

If it's not the thick wiring it's the Connects2 that's in a bad place or slipped down or the redundant connectors to the autochanger. :@

I ended up with a bit of force, but not too much.

The iPod holder I bought off "The bay of thieves" is......................well.......................utter cack, a Nexxus.

It clip onto the air vent but is is not at all secure

I've not had the time to go through how it works. I don't know if you can control it through the iPod or you're stuck with the playlists playing through the CD buttons.

After an hour + of buggering about I'd lost interest and was cold.

According to some of the info I've read "This iPod adapter enables you to search songs by album, artist, track directly from the head unit" I don't know how.

I'll have a play tomorrow

sounds good so far. the head unit has no space, best bet is to try and get a hand up the back and move wires about when sliding back in.

Tried that, but the tray needs to be put in 1st. You can't get the tray back in when the radio is in :S

Glovebox out?

You only need one of the kits.

But if its a long term car then I would suggest a different headunit. I work at Halfords and i'm always out fitting something to some car or another.

I went for this one:-

However if I had to choose one for a single din with the ipod i'd go for an Alpine unit - think its called the 103BT??

Thats a nice looking Stereo! Whats the model number/ price of that?

Edited , I should have read page 2...... :giggle:

Glovebox out?

Still has a panel inbetween the radio and the glovebox, and if I recall space is limited by other wires, but it's easy enough to remove so could be worth it to sort the back of the radio out.
