Bud am looking at the same thing although been looking at halfords they have a sale on and have a nice sony stero at the moment for 159 which charges your ipod and is bluetooth gets good reviews on their site also can move your track selction via the ipod if any help :p

There have been a few Q's on ipod connectors for the standard headunit but not sure what to get... I did a search and it came up with a few answers but not done anything as of yet!

I'm also using an FM thing in my current ride - its rubbish! can't wait til the FL arrives.

I think Denison make something that can integrate with the stock unit?

I've just ordered a Connects2 iPod adaptor for my Furby.

Yep - I've fitted a couple of furby VRS ipod connectors using the Connect2/Dension kits and they just plug straight into the autochanger control port on the H/U and there is a loom which goes between the std ISO plugs and the back of the H/U to give power to the kit. then fit the ipod connector anywhere you want! :)

sorry said am no good to do you need both the denson and the connect two kit?

If your set on keeping the standard radio, it might be better to get a new radio, unless the prices have changed, it's not much difference between the above kits, and a HU with iPod/AUX input. Plus it will sould much better than the old head unit will.

Something like that maybe? http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_720841_langId_-1_categoryId_165474

cheers pal was looking at the sony mex bt37oou from halfords just didnt know what would be the best heard alot of people mentioning the denson kits ..

Never used a Desnsion kit, but I did use the standard head unit for a few days, and it wasn't very good. Put one of those Sony's (or a slightly older version) in and it sounds much better.

Only problems with them IMO, are the colours - it lights up red, not green. The input has to come from the front, meaning you need something to mount the device in, and have a wire trailing around. And if you use FM/AM/LW/MW then you will need a booster at about £10 from Halfords, and a facia at £2 from Skoda.

Other than those no reasons not to IMO, sounds better, almost the same price, and transerferable to any car with standard wiring.

thanks again

You only need one of the kits.

But if its a long term car then I would suggest a different headunit. I work at Halfords and i'm always out fitting something to some car or another.

I went for this one:-

However if I had to choose one for a single din with the ipod i'd go for an Alpine unit - think its called the 103BT??

cheers buddy

How does the little cubby hole fit onto that to go below the radio?

This is better for the Ipod lead so still slightly on topic :giggle:

If I remember correctly I think the cubby hole is an integral part of the cup holder unit.

It is a VW part and was fitted to the Polo (of the top of the head the 9N model rings a bell - although I'm not sure what that means in terms of model years etc) and I think some Lupo models had it too.

I'm in a hotel at the moment but I think I should have a record of the part number somewhere when I get home tmrw night.

I just drilled a small hole at the back of the cubby section (see last pic) to route the Ipod connector cable.

Yeah, any info on the money etc will be good.

I had a 9n before my vRS and the cup holder was to the left.

I want that headunit - Pioneer 80BT?

Do you have to buy the ipod adaptor separately or does it come with it?
