Featured Replies

hi guys

im a bit stuck i want to get a sat nav for my fabia vrs

i have a standard skoda radio at the mo

i no il need a double din face plate thing (what the radio/satnav sits in)

iv also been looking up at vw sat nav units

basicly im trying to find out wat bit i need go where my radio is, an do golf units fit the fabia?

cheers dan

An MFD1 head unit will go into a Mk1 furby, it's a little dated but works well enough and of course will look factory. They can be picked up if you trawl ebay or even here for around £200 ish. Skoda do a small infill trim piece for the fabia if you fit a single din unit, this is only pennies and fits / matches perfectly. It's much better than the autoleads crap. VW units should fit the fabia, the MFD1 will go straight in but it will be blue and red illumination instead of green.

Do you have a factory multichanger?

The reason I asked is, If you specified factory Sat-Nav (£1800) You also had to specify the Multichanger (£250) The Nav disk resides in the MFD, So you'd be stuck listening to the radio! If you were to continue down this road!

TBH you'd be better & cheaper getting a high end Tom-Tom or the like, Get an auto spark to fit a permanent live feed from the fuse box saving you from having wires trailing about the cabin.

Going with a portable unit will allow you to update the mapping a damn site easier too!

MFD3/RNS510/Collumbus Wont fit!

I'd say that it depends on if you are currently happy with your audio setup. If so then buy some thing decent as a stand allow unit - like a Garmin or a Tom Tom. If not then you can buy aftermarket headunits from £300 (either double din or single) that can be fitted that has satnav built in!
