vRS to Scout

Featured Replies

Title says it all really :D

They do look nice and comfy and a bit of white stuff shouldn't stop it. However, I do a lot of miles though and I do like a turn of speed.

Scouts seem to be selling like hot cakes, before I bought mine a month ago there was about 23-26 Scouts every week...now theres 14 and thats on a national search, speaks volumes :rofl:

edit, I should have said 23-26 Scouts on the autotrader site

get one and get it remapped, problem solved. I like the scout it looks quite smart

oh the temptation of a getting a 2.0 FSi scout and sticking a k04 turbo on it and suprise a few vRS drivers :)

The 1.8 TSI is surprisingly sprightly.

And I say that coming from a 3.0 BMW. Obviously it is not as quick, but I don't feel like I am driving anything agricultural.

I've been looking at the Scout aswell, but as has been said, they're not as widely available at the moment. Most of the ones on Autotrader are about a year old and so holding their value well. I've also got next to no chance to test drive where I live so would have to make a special and expensive journey if one came up.

I'm sure the drive would be better than expected against the vrs, but there's only one way to find out! Personally I like a bit of torque overtaking on the faster roads, so I'd have to test drive both the diesel and the petrol to see which I preferred. I've seen some Milotec? pictures of a tarted up Scout, which look a bit over the top. But I'm sure a few understated touches might make it feel a bit more individual or not so old? I don't know! I actually like it!

Can you remap the 1.8T? If so, what to? For the potential increase in mpg of course ;)

I went from a 2.0 TFSi vRS to a TDi Scout and was disappointed, I found the engine not that smooth or that eonomical ( Having had 2 Furby vRs's and a Octy mk 1 130TDi Elegance) so went back to a petrol vRS after only 7 months! I'm now swapping the vRS for a 1.8 Petrol Scout!!

I can appreciate your disappointment with the Scout TDi because I own one but would dearly swap the engine for my old 1.8T petrol engine in the Mk1 . 4*4 . What stood out about that engine was the identical power ranges and ratios in every gear - it was a joy to drive even if it was not that economical .

The vRS is also a fantastic car , but not my personal cup of tea .

Have you considered a remap for the Scout PD engine? I've seen a couple of graphs from remaps and they look impressive - much more uniform power delivery through the range.
