how good are winter tyres

Featured Replies

i never realised how good winter tyres were til the last couple of days, i have cooper weather masters on the front, 225/40/18s so still a wide tyre , ive never had a problem pulling away on snow for the last few days.

i took the kids sledging and drove staright up this hill with very little effort, when i reached the top i proudly parked my vrs inbetween 5 4x4s.the look on this fellows face when i drove up was worth £260 .IMG_0797.jpg

Wish id have got them, might have saved my pranging my wing, being weighing it up and after finding some steelies that didnt fit my car I thought sod it, we wont have the snow and ice for much longer. Wish id already got them £500 is the excess on my insurance, I could have had wheels and tyres for that!

Winter tyres are the best thing for a car in the winter :)

I'm constantly amazed by them and i use them for 3 winters now.

I climed a 45% ramp coverd in ice for example.

If possible try to change the weels completly with the smaller ones you can fit on the car. The smaller the surface that the tyre touches the ground the best traction you have.

I drive on Dunlop Wintersport D3 with steel 16" rims and they are superb.
