1.4tsi or 1.9 tdi?

Featured Replies

I'm looking at getting a new Octavia having had a 1.9tdi for the last 5 years. It's been a great can but I just fancy something newer and possibly take advantage of the offers on at the minute. The problem is which do I go for- 1.4tsi or another 1.9tdi? Most of my driving is city driving but I do a fair few big drives through the year, 250/ 300 miles at a time. The 1.9 I have now is great for that and economy is amazing. Price wise I could go for the 1.4 elegance or 1.9 SE- is there that much of a difference is equipment? Is it worth going for the smaller petrol engine in elegance or the diesel in SE? No idea what to go for- any opinions?

I'd go for a 1.4 TSI with DSG box in Elegance trim

The 1.9 TDi is about to be phased out, replaced by the 1.6 CR diesel

Elegance adds rear parking sensors, Auto dim mirror, Dual climate control, front armrest (Jumbo), fog lights, leather wheel, bigger 16" alloys etc

Is there a possibility to get the 1,9 TDI in the UK without DPF? If not, leave it....this driving profile doesn't suit it. If you are able to get it without DPF I would definitely prefer the Diesel.

The 1.9TDI does not have a DPF in the UK
