Servicing Query

Featured Replies

Hello all.

Had my current Octy now for 12 months.

When I bought the car it had 21681 on the clock, and had been serviced at 17000 by the previous owner.

The car is on Variable Servicing, and wanted me to service it at 36000. Great, 20K between services will do me nicely.

However, the car is on 45000 now and is asking for a service in 1100 miles time... Only 9000 miles is very disappointing for a car that does 60 miles commute daily, all on the M4/A470... (i.e. generally cruising at 70mph)

When it was serviced though, the dealer scribbled in the book that next service is 56000 (again, the 20K)

So what am I to believe? I was under the impression that motorway cruising would be the best "kind" of driving for it and servicing intervals should be kept quite long.

Any advice gratefully received.

TIA

David

good chance they didnt reset the service properly and it went on interval instead of variable i'd stick with the 56,000

Suggest you speak to the dealer that serviced it last and ask for a discounted variable service to get over the fact you paid for a full service last time, but the service indicator now says the car is on fixed.

9000 miles saying 1000 miles to service, so therefore that means it was probably reset by pressing the button rather than with the computer.

I see.

When I had the car back, I tried holding the button in and seeing what it would say about a service (as I was curious) and it said 7800 miles!

I assumed that this would lengthen by itself....

I best speak to the dealer...

If it showed a value as soon as picked up after service, then reset to fixed. If you check a correctly reset variable car, all values are - - - until 500 miles has elapsed, then the car will show you the guestimated miles and days to next service.

Remember as well many who've checked have accidentally done it wrong and immediately triggered the service now message.
