What Would You Do?

Featured Replies

Here's another quote, this time from the FAQs on Skoda UK's web site:

Question:

Can I go to a non-Skoda retailer for servicing?

Answer:

This is not something that we would recommend since non-Skoda retailers are not trained in the servicing of Skoda vehicles nor are they kept up to date with technical information. It may therefore have an adverse affect on the terms of the new vehicle warranty.

Not exactly black and white, is it? If Skoda had used the word will instead of may, I believe that the Courts/Office of Fair Trading could view the statement as being unreasonable in the circumstances we are discussing.

That is why I think you can ask them for permission (in writing) to have it services elsewhere if the circumstances are not ideal to go back to the Skoda garage...
