MOT failure rates for cars and small vans have been published for the first time following a Freedom of Information (FoI) request by the BBC.

* In the DVLA dataset, a Vehicle Year of First Use of 1971 is recorded against Kit Cars and Rebuilds.

** The Component Groups 'Driving Controls' and 'Motor Tricycles and Quadricycles' typically apply only to the specified vehicle types, and motorcycles conversions into three wheelers which weigh more than the limit for Class III.

*** 'Items not Tested' refers to an inability of the NT to examine a required Test Item - e.g. 'Emissions not tested because of blowing / air leak in exhaust system'.
