They don't do a 1.9 for the Scout, only a 2.0TDI or 1.8TSI.

Q7. 6 litre diesel. 737 lb/ft.

Blimey........

It's all academic really! Thats a list of 4wd vehicles and if you believe some of the clap trap from Autocar then a 2wd is better than a 4wd in the snow!?

Because it saves people that can't drive in the conditions from themselves!

He probably has a point about not everyone driving their vehicle appropriately (but that's true what ever the traction arrangements) but to say "...if I had to choose between the two, I’d stick with front-wheel drive."

Andrew Frankel = Idiot.

But how often do you actually need 4x4? A few days worth of snow each year?

A few days worth of snow each year?

You mean a few weeks of snow this year?

Which the last time it happened was 1981. :dull:

Frequently when towing the caravan across a field, or retreaving the RIB via a slippery slipway. emoticon-0143-smirk.gif

Strange.

I was totally sold on the idea of winter tyres last week. Then, driving back from oop north on Saturday I went right off the idea as it reached a Caribbean 12 degrees © as I passed Evesham. Well above the (admittedly, slightly atomic) threshold of 6 degrees.

I am now wondering if I should just drive like a loon through summer and get a set of Quatracs (sp?) on for next winter.

I would agree with that. Got my quatrac 3 eventually fitted on Saturday. Today it is 8c. Now have a V50 but ran Quatrac 3 all year round on my old Octavia and no problems. Don't know if i could be bothered with putting wheels on and off. During UK winters the temp is often above 7c which is the maximum temp reccomended for most winter tyres so All season tyres are the way to go.
