Was this DV broken?

Featured Replies

I was replacing my 'G' revision DV for the newer piston-type 'D' revision today. On taking the old one off, it fell out in a couple of pieces (1st pic). It could be put back by clipping the sections back together but the sections weren't secured to each other very well.

The actual diaphragm was intact although part of the reason for changing was that I thought I was feeling a very slight loss boost causing me to suspect a pin-hold tear in the diaphragm. Could this be another possibility with DVs leading to slight boost leak?

(I notice on JKM's website that they state "the diaphragm / piston sometimes break away from the solenoid shaft itself. This renders the valve inoperable" and provide the following picture (thanks JKM  ):

...although the piston was still firmly lodged in the diaphragm section in my case despite the whole of that section coming away from the solenoid shaft when I took it off.

Of no real consequence now that the 'D' revision is fitted; just curious is all.

that happened on mine, was like " what the f*ck"

Dont know if it made a massive difference htough as on the same day i installed the bluefin stage 2, DP and DV at same time.
