What is VCDS & What Options Are Available

Featured Replies

I have seen VCDS mentioned many times on the forums...

What is VCDS?

Is this a dealer only service?

Is it FOC to change settings?

Is there a list of all the available options? i.e.

Turn cornering light function on (fog light)

Dual rear fog lights to work

Auto locking to activate when moving off

Hazard lights to come on with emergency braking

Disable synchronized mirror adjustment i.e. make it separate left and right operation

Activate ‘teardrop’ last wipe function

Thank you

VCDS This is an interface that plugs into the cars OBDII port to diagnose fault codes and also allows you to change various factory setting.

No dealers do not use VCDS what they use is arguably not as comprehensive and user freindly.

Define FOC ..... the interfaces are approx £250 to buy (then everything else ie updates are free), but there are many people who will scan and activate items on your car for a very reasonable fee. (much less than a dealer would usually charge)

Most of the above can be done (depending on the car - not everything can be activated on every car, it all depends on the spec and age of the car)

Thank you

Hi. Like you I am a bit confused about this VCDS. I own a Limited Edition VRs Estate. So what options can be turned on exactly and where can I find someone to do this?

Vag-Com owners map

Vag-Com is what VCDS used to be called.

As i said earlier the age of the car will make a difference as to what can and cannot be enabled.

Anything CAN based (MKII Octavia and Superb etc) need genuine interfaces to work.
