Quality (or lack of) Scout plastic wheel arches.

Featured Replies

Have any other Scout owners had a problem with the extended plastic wheel arch trims?

When I first got my 07 Scout (6 month old demonstrator) part of the grey film had peeled off from the grey plastic wheel arch trim on the front nearside showing the shiny black plastic underneath, so I had it replaced under the warranty, this had to be redone later on because the whole trim was beginning to come adrift due to a poor job first time round. Now I have a couple of small patches showing the black pastic on the same nearside front wheel arch but this time on the other part of the trim which is at the front of the arch, this isn't due to any impact/scratches, it starts to come away right at the edge of the trim where it meets the metal bodywork.

It strikes me as a daft design to have black plastic trim covered with a fragile grey plastic film round the wheel arches, why not have it all grey plastic like the front and rear bumpers? Once this car is out of warranty such repairs are going to be expensive.

Regards

David

Not had any problems with ours (08 reg) yet, so looks like you may have an unlucky set? Our biggest problem was with the headlight protectors - one of them flew off as I was driving up the M42! Most unnerving!

could you put some pics up of this?

Book of the Dead used to revive an old thread :)

I have this issue on my Roomster Scout, has anyone got any solutions for this?

I was wondering plastidip - but the you'd have to do the whole car - or taking the crappy paint off ALL of the plastics so it matched.
